Senior MEP Pre-Construction Manager – Data Centres

Location: Frankfurt / Hanau
Language: Fluent German & English

The key point is that this person needs to understand how the MEP infrastructure surrounding and supporting the white space is designed, coordinated, procured and built, rather than being a white-space specialist.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate MEP activities during pre-construction and early construction.
  • Review MEP designs from a constructability, sequencing and delivery perspective.
  • Understand the dependencies between civil works, structure, building services and MEP packages.
  • Develop and challenge construction sequencing, installation strategy and programme.
  • Coordinate with designers, general contractors, MEP contractors, utilities and specialist subcontractors.
  • Ensure MEP packages are sufficiently developed before mobilisation and construction.
  • Identify potential design clashes, programme risks, interfaces and buildability issues before they impact site.
  • Support tendering, contractor selection, technical evaluations and package procurement.
  • Ensure compliance with German construction regulations, standards, permitting requirements and local authority requirements.
  • Provide strong local knowledge of the Frankfurt/Hesse data centre construction market, including contractors, suppliers and relevant stakeholders.

The ideal person would have:

  • 10+ years' MEP construction experience, ideally including major data centre projects.
  • Direct experience delivering a data centre in Frankfurt/Hesse.
  • Strong knowledge of the pre-construction → construction transition.
  • A practical understanding of how an MEP installation is actually delivered on site — not simply design management.
  • Experience coordinating electrical, mechanical, civil, structural and architectural interfaces.
  • Strong knowledge of German regulations, VOB, DIN standards, permitting and construction practices.
  • Existing relationships with MEP contractors, subcontractors and suppliers in the Frankfurt market.
  • Fluent/native-level German.
  • Experience with large international contractors would be highly attractive.
